Lab Administrator Join our team as a Lab Administrator and help power innovative teaching and research labs. In this hands-on role, you'll oversee daily stockroom operations, prepare and manage lab materials, maintain inventory and equipment, and ensure compliance with safety standards. You'll work closely with faculty and students to support lab activities, maintain SOPs, coordinate purchasing, and train and supervise student employees. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting scientific learning and discovery. What you'll do in this position: Support teaching and research labs by preparing samples, reagents, and microorganisms while ensuring quality control and safe handling practices. Manage daily stockroom operations, including inventory, organization, storage, and distribution of lab materials and supplies. Develop, maintain, and communicate clear protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory operations. Train and supervise student employees on laboratory procedures, safety standards, and stockroom operations. Maintain accurate records for inventory, quality control, microorganisms, and laboratory protocols. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and help ensure teaching labs remain clean, organized, and ready for instruction. Coordinate equipment setup, relocation, surplus management, and inventory tracking. Purchase laboratory supplies and equipment in collaboration with department leadership. Support laboratory safety and compliance by overseeing chemical and biohazard waste management and recommending equipment repairs or upgrades. What qualifies you for this role: Required A firm commitment to the mission of BYU. Minimum of two years of experience in laboratory operations and management, with substantial hands-on experience in microorganism handling and identification, sample preparation, and inventory management. Knowledge of safety protocols for handling chemicals and microorganisms. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Ability to train and supervise student employees effectively. Knowledge of chemical and microbial laboratory methods and ability to operate and maintain scientific laboratory equipment. Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations and their implementation. Ability to work across microbiology and medical laboratory science fields of study. Experience developing SOPs and quality control procedures. Strong collaboration and communication skills in an academic setting. Preferred Certification in medical laboratory science or master's degree in microbiology Previous experience in academic or clinical lab administration. Familiarity with purchasing systems and capital equipment management.Application Deadline:
