As a Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in specimen collection and handling, ensuring the integrity of blood and urine samples used for vital laboratory analyses. Responsibilities:
Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of blood and urine specimens accurately and efficiently. Perform venipuncture procedures to collect blood specimens, following proper identification and safety protocols. Observe and collect urine specimens, including observed and supervised collections, ensuring compliance with privacy and safety standards. Properly label, document, and prepare specimens for shipment to the laboratory, maintaining precise records. Demonstrate exceptional customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and staff. Communicate effectively with a diverse patient population, providing reassurance and clear instructions. Adhere strictly to Universal Precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA guidelines to ensure safety and confidentiality. Report low-volume shifts, issues, or deviations from protocols to supervisors promptly. Maintain a clean, organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency. Assist with office tasks such as inventory management and supply ordering as needed.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 6 months of venipuncture experience, demonstrating proficiency with blood draw procedures. Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and compassion in clinical settings. Reliable and dependable with a strong work ethic and professionalism. Strong computer skills, including experience with multiple programs, email management, and data entry accuracy. Have Skills:
Experience with urine drug screen collections, observed and supervised specimen collection. Knowledge of laboratory processing and shipping procedures. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and laboratory information systems.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Relevant phlebotomy certification or medical assistant training preferred. Prior experience working in outpatient clinics, medical centers, or clinical laboratories enhances candidacy.
Other Requirements:
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (20 hours per week). Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, and reaching.
Compliance with dress code:
solid color scrubs and closed-toe shoes. Must pass background checks and adhere to all relevant safety standards.
