We are seeking a Lab Technician to support our client's team.

M-F 2 pm to 10:30 pm

Responsibilities:

• Monitors, audits processing and packaging cleaning systems to ensure optimal performance and sanitation.

NOTE:

• Support the Quality Systems Supervisor in verification activities of sanitation performances, GMP, and SQF codes compliance
• Ensure compliance with antibiotic testing of all incoming raw milk and condensed shipments
• Microbiological testing as appropriate for raw materials, work in process, and finished products, including SPC, coliform, and yeast/mold 3M Petri film plating and pour plating.
• Sensory Evaluation of products post-production and at the end of Shelf-Life
• Equipment and finished product/packaging pre-operational inspection, including ATP swabbing
• Air quality monitoring of yeast/mold within the facility using Potato Dextrose Agar
• Temperature monitoring of lab equipment such as incubators, refrigerators, warehouses, and freezers
• Water quality monitoring within the facility for coliform and TPC
• Environmental pathogen swabbing within the facility
• Allergen validation testing of equipment
• Maintain proper inventory of all laboratory items
• Maintain all proper documentation and records associated with responsibilities.
• Coordinate with third-party laboratories as appropriate for sampling and testing necessary
• Assist Quality Systems Supervisor in other duties as needed
• Maintain the laboratory as needed with regular cleaning

Good Manufacturing Practices Work/Education/Experience Requirements:

• Experience working in a food laboratory environment (dairy/milk laboratory experience is preferred)
• Knowledgeable of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
• Strong understanding of microbiology (experience with microbiological testing preferred)
• Sensory experience (dairy products preferred)
• Troubleshoot and repair lab equipment as necessary

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks based on immediate and long-term objectives
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Strong ability to learn new tasks and concepts
• Excellent organizational skills
• Have cross-departmental functions (production, distribution, customer service, and engineering) as needed to meet objectives
• Work in a team-based environment within the laboratory
• Strong computer skills working with Microsoft Office products, as well as laboratory equipment and software programs
• Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision
