Job Title:
Lab TechnicianJob Description The Lab Technician supports research and development activities by performing mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties testing on thermal interface materials and coatings. Working under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist, this role conducts experiments using established procedures, accurately records and analyzes data, and communicates results in a clear and organized manner. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative materials that support advanced technologies in a collaborative R D environment. Responsibilities + Perform mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties testing of thermal interface materials and coatings using established laboratory methods. + Evaluate, collect, and accurately record experimental data, ensuring completeness and traceability. + Organize, set up, and perform experiments following established procedures and experimental protocols. + Summarize and document experimental results in a laboratory notebook in a clear, organized, and compliant manner. + Use a computer to enter data and information, including creating charts and tables to communicate project results and experimental details. + Follow safe laboratory practices and protocols, especially when working with toxic chemicals. + Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory workspace to support reliable testing and experimentation. + Collaborate with Senior technical staff by providing timely updates on test progress, observations, and outcomes. + Adhere to quality control and quality testing standards to ensure accuracy and consistency of test results. Essential Skills + 1-3 years of demonstrated laboratory experience. + Experience with laboratory testing in areas such as wet chemistry, quality control testing, and quality testing. + Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline. + High school diploma (or equivalent) as a minimum required education. + Ability to understand and follow experimental protocols for proper execution and preservation of data. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for data entry, analysis, and reporting. + Comfort working with toxic chemicals while strictly following safe laboratory practices and protocols. + Ability to stand and work in the laboratory for most of the day. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection, documentation, and reporting. + Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative while also collaborating effectively within an R D team. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, or thermal properties testing of materials. + Familiarity with data collection, analysis, and interpretation in a laboratory environment. + Experience documenting experiments and results in laboratory notebooks in an R D or QC setting. + Comfort using computers and laboratory software tools to generate charts, tables, and reports. + Interest in working with advanced materials and thermal interface technologies used in applications such as electric vehicles, data centers, and next-generation electronics. + Strong organizational skills to manage multiple experiments and maintain clear records. + Effective communication skills to share findings and collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians. Work Environment This is a full-time, onsite contract role lasting approximately six months, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break, for a total of 40 hours per week. The position is based at a research and development facility in Chanhassen, Minnesota, which serves as a North American hub for thermal interface materials. The environment is a collaborative R D laboratory focused on adhesives, sealants, advanced materials, and thermal management solutions for industries such as electronics, automotive, and industrial manufacturing. You will work in a lab setting that requires frequent standing throughout the day and regular handling of chemicals, including toxic substances, under strict safety protocols and established laboratory procedures. Standard office and laboratory technologies, including Microsoft Office tools and laboratory instrumentation for mechanical, electrical, and thermal testing, are used daily. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chanhassen, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
