Job Description

Actively Interviewing for Lab Technologist (Night Shift) to join medical laboratory in Norcross, GA! Job Description The Lab Technologist - Nights performs a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to support high-quality diagnostic and product testing in an advanced technology laboratory. This role focuses on accurate and timely execution of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical tasks while strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements. The technologist works with automated and semi-automated chemistry and related laboratory equipment, supports testing on patient, donor, or biologic product samples, and maintains clear communication with department staff and other laboratory personnel. Responsibilities Perform assigned laboratory testing in accordance with all current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements. Carry out pre-analytical tasks, including receipt, qualification, labeling, and preparation of samples for testing. Perform CLIA-waived tests and moderate and/or high complexity testing on patient, donor, or biologic product samples using routine chemistries and automated or semi-automated methods. Operate laboratory instruments and equipment by following established protocols and working within defined quality control limits. Monitor, recognize, and promptly report unusual, critical, or unexpected test results to appropriate leadership or designated personnel. Identify equipment malfunctions, technical issues, or testing irregularities and take appropriate steps to troubleshoot, resolve, or escalate as required. Maintain strict adherence to all SOPs, quality standards, and safety policies throughout all testing and handling activities. Prepare, review, and maintain accurate reports and records, including timely and precise computer data entry of test results and related information. Maintain adequate departmental inventory by monitoring and replenishing supplies within established levels. Communicate effectively with departmental colleagues and other laboratory services personnel to coordinate workflow and resolve issues. Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work area by following housekeeping and biosafety practices. Participate in training, competency assessments, and ongoing learning to remain current with procedures, instruments, and laboratory best practices. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science degree in a Life Science discipline such as biology, chemistry, or a related field. 0-1 year of laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting. Foundational knowledge of general laboratory practices, including handling of biological samples and use of standard lab equipment. Ability to follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with strong attention to accuracy and quality. Familiarity with chemistry-based testing methods and routine clinical or analytical laboratory workflows. Basic understanding of CLIA concepts and requirements relevant to waived, moderate, and high complexity testing. Competence in operating laboratory instruments and equipment under supervision and established protocols. Ability to recognize unusual or inconsistent test results and escalate appropriately. Proficiency with computer data entry and use of laboratory information systems or similar software. Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with laboratory staff and other teams. Ability to work reliably during night shifts and maintain focus and accuracy over extended periods. Additional Skills & Qualifications Academic or industry laboratory experience involving chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory procedures. Experience working with automated or semi-automated laboratory systems and internal support systems. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot basic equipment or technical issues under guidance. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records. Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement in a regulated laboratory environment. Interest in growing with an advanced technology laboratory that is expanding its testing capabilities, including microbiology. Adaptability to learn new methods, technologies, and testing platforms as the laboratory expands services. Ability to work effectively in a large, collaborative laboratory team with a positive and professional attitude. Work Environment This position is based in a combined warehouse and laboratory environment within a large, well-lit, and clean facility designed to support high-throughput testing. The lab operates as an advanced technology setting, utilizing automated and semi-automated systems for routine chemistries and other testing platforms. The regular night schedule is 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Sunday through Tuesday, with a rotational Wednesday shift as needed. Initial training typically lasts 4-5 weeks on day shifts, either 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday with a rotational Wednesday, or 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, before transitioning to nights. The environment emphasizes a positive working culture with clear performance feedback, including regular performance reviews during the contract period. Appropriate laboratory attire and personal protective equipment are required in testing areas to support safety and compliance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Norcross, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
