Our progressive facility features a 10-bed critical care access hospital, emphasizing compassionate and ethical health services rooted in our mission to serve individuals, families, and the community with professionalism and integrity. Job Summary Responsible for direction and coordination of the staff in the Laboratory. Includes performance of all in-house laboratory testing to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Ensures that services are of the best quality, are cost contained and are carried out in an expeditious manner. Responsible for recognizing results or problems that require referral to the Technical Consultant and Consulting Pathologist. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department. Responsibilities include the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of infections and communicate diseases within the organization, including both healthcare associated and community-acquired infections. Knowledge of CDC guidelines and definition of healthcare associated infections (HAIs), accrediting organization standards, federal and state regulations and national guidelines. Collaborates with facility Leadership and healthcare providers responsible for inpatient and outpatient departments and services, as well as non-patient care support staff. Assists with inservice programs related to infection prevention and control. Participates in the organization performance improvement program. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE A
degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist from an accredited school. ASCP certification preferred. Previous experience in infection prevention is desirable.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technician (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). A minimum of 2 years lab experience. DOT training certification recommended (may be obtained), and BLS recommended. Infection Preventionist Specialized Training (IPCO) complete certificate from the American Health Care Association (renewed every three years).
