Position Description The Laboratory Technician II supports testing activities within Applied Medical's Biological Sciences Department and its associated labs in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. This role performs and implements laboratory testing in accordance with established methods and procedures while contributing to continuous improvement in quality and efficiency. The Laboratory Technician II works within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment and serves as a resource for junior laboratory team members. Professionals with backgrounds in biology, microbiology, cell biology, or clinical laboratory science will find this role a strong match. Key Responsibilities Perform laboratory testing according to established methods, procedures, and Applied Medical's Quality Systems (QS). Produce and maintain accurate documentation related to laboratory testing, including quality controlled records in support of process improvements. Execute preventative maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment to ensure consistent operations. Participate in internal and external audits and support proper laboratory operations as needed. Train and establish acceptance criteria for laboratory technicians and team members. Coordinate with cross-functional departments within Applied Medical to support task and project completion. Communicate test results clearly and objectively to management, leadership, and team members. Success in This Role Looks Like Laboratory testing is completed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with established procedures and quality standards. Documentation is thorough, audit-ready, and consistently meets quality system requirements. Junior laboratory staff receive effective training and clear guidance. Cross-functional partners view the Laboratory Technician II as a reliable and communicative resource. Equipment is maintained proactively, minimizing disruption to laboratory operations. Continuous improvement contributions strengthen departmental efficiency and product quality. Position Requirements This position requires the following skills and attributes: Degree in biology, microbiology, cell biology, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience in a laboratory setting. Two to five years of hands-on laboratory experience in a related field. Technical knowledge of aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures. Knowledge of basic good laboratory practices and standard precautions. Proficiency in scientific and technical writing. Manual skills to operate laboratory equipment and computers. Ability to perform tasks independently and within a team environment. Ability to coordinate and plan testing with team members. Effective oral and written communication skills. Preferred The Following skills and a ttributes are prefered: Experience in paraffin processing of tissues, including microtomy, routine histological stains, and processing of frozen tissue.
