Job Description

About the Role This is the highest labor position we offer. The Hardscape Foreman leads our construction crew in the field — not from the sideline. You will be hands-on every day: operating equipment, building walls, setting base, pulling grade, and executing hardscape projects from start to finish. Equally important, you will be responsible for teaching and training crew members to perform this work correctly and to our standards. If you know how to build a retaining wall the right way — base prep, compaction, batter, drainage, cap — and you can teach someone else to do the same, this role was written for you. Responsibilities Lead the hardscape crew daily on active job sites from mobilization to completion Operate equipment including mini excavator, compact track loader, and plate compactor Build segmental block retaining walls, natural stone retaining walls, paver patios, paver driveways, cobblestone borders, and flagstone walkways to correct specifications Perform and oversee full retaining wall construction: excavation, base preparation, compaction, block installation, drainage, backfill, and cap Use a grade rod and level to establish and verify elevations, grades, and layout Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques, tool use, equipment awareness, and quality standards Read and interpret project plans and communicate scope expectations to the crew Maintain daily jobsite organization, material staging, and safety awareness Coordinate with the owner on project sequencing, material needs, and crew scheduling Hold the crew to high standards of workmanship and professionalism on every job Required Skills & Experience Minimum 3 years of hands-on hardscape and landscape construction experience required — this is non-negotiable Demonstrated experience building retaining walls from start to finish (segmental block and/or natural stone) Proficiency with a grade rod, hand level, and string line for layout and elevation control Experience operating a mini excavator and skid steer or compact track loader Ability to train and communicate installation techniques clearly to crew members of varying skill levels Strong working knowledge of base preparation, geotextile fabric, drainage aggregate, and compaction requirements Experience with paver installation (patios, driveways, walkways) and flagstone work Physically capable of performing strenuous outdoor labor in all weather conditions Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated — you show up and you set the tone. Compensation & Benefits $25.00 per hour Overtime paid at time and a half for all hours over 40 per week Paid Time Off (PTO) Consistent, year-round work Opportunity to grow with a company that is actively expanding its hardscape division
