Job Description

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Landscape - Public Works, the Landscaper, Tribal Government Operations (TGO) will be responsible for general facility and grounds maintenance on the Tribal Reservation as well as other San Manuel properties. While working as a part of a closely-knit team, the primary duty of the Landscaper, TGO will be to perform a variety of semiskilled and skilled work in the maintenance of the enterprise grounds and to do related work as assigned to maintain the efficient operation and upkeep of San Manuel properties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Performs weed abatement, controls fertilization of trees, lawns, flowers, shrubs and hedges. 2. Performs landscaping maintenance regularly. 3. Cleans and removes debris and waste from the Tribal Reservation & other YSMN Properties 4. Cleans and maintains roads and parking lots. 5. Operates tractors & other riding equipment. Inspects and ensures that all equipment is in safe operating condition. 6. Performs erosion control mitigation including jute netting. Wattles and sandbags. 7. Cleans out water drains as needed. 8. Detects, identifies and recommends treatment of plant problems. 9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
(KSA) Knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment, and the ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment. Must possess a pleasant attitude and customer service skills. Must be able to read, write and communicate efficiently.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
Authorized Driver:
Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS - ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands and working environment described here are representative of those that an employee encounters and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Primary work environment is in an outdoor environment; employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions such as rain, wind, cold, and hot climates. Must be able to work in a fast paced, high demand, high volume environment. Strength sufficient to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally. Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone. Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, and over the telephone. Visual Acuity that includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office and outdoor environment; walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties. Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours. This position requires climbing; crouching; kneeling; bending and twisting; and ability to maintain balance while climbing or moving across rough, uneven and/or rocky surfaces and while lifting and/or carrying moderately heavy objects. The employee may be exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards of equipment and underground-overhead utilities; fumes and odors of paint, diesel; dust from excavations, trenching and cement work; toxic substances such as glue; dry chlorine, asbestos pipe and PVC. Employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. Employee will be exposed to high dust, dirt, grease, chemicals, and heavy moving machinery. Employee must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned, and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts. The noise level for this position ranges from moderate to loud. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
