POSITION TITLE

PROGRAMMER POSITION DEPARTMENT
Production
POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Laser Nesting Technician is responsible for preparing and optimizing part layouts (nests) for Mitsubishi laser cutting machines. This role focuses on maximizing material utilization, organizing production workflows, and ensuring accurate file preparation for cutting. This is an entry-level position ideal for someone with strong computer skills, attention to detail, and an interest in manufacturing technology.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Create and adjust nesting layouts for laser cutting machines using nesting software (training provided) 2. Arrange parts efficiently to maximize material usage and minimize scrap 3. Import and organize part files for production use 4. Verify correct material type, thickness, and job requirements before releasing nests to the floor 5. Maintain organized digital files and revision control 6. Coordinate with production, scheduling, and engineering teams to prioritize work 7. Make adjustments to nests based on production needs or material availability 8. Support operators with file selection and job setup questions 9. Follow all company safety and quality standards 10. Perform other related duties as requested by management

EDUCATIONAL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • No prior laser or nesting experience required; on-the-job training provided
  • Experience with CAD, CAM, or nesting software is a plus but not required
  • Basic understanding of measurements or manufacturing concepts is helpful
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
