Job Description

Fair Acres has been providing quality care to the residents of Delaware County for over 200 years. Performs a variety of duties relating to sorting and hanging soiled linens and resident clothing, operating the washer, processing, and delivering resident clothing, processing clean linen and loading linen racks, labeling and mending resident clothing, and performing the housekeeping function in the laundry, PRIMARY
TASKS PERFORMED
Solled Linen Tasks Sort soiled linen and resident clothing by related classifications. Fill sling bags for overhead monorail. Use the selector panel to program wash for the monorail. Keep soiled tanks, equipment, and work area clean and orderly. Police the grounds outside of the laundry and around the dumpsters. Tunnel Operations Tasks Use selector panel, extractor, conveyer, dryers, and linen transporters. Monitor extractor for faults and clear. Monitor selector panel at the load end to correct improperly coded wash codes. Monitor selector panel on the washer for proper routing of wash for the dryers. Monitor dryers for appropriate time and temperature settings. Unload dryers into clean carts and deliver to finishing are for processing. Load and unload small washer and dryers as necessary. Resident Clothing Tasks Load and unload resident clothing dryers. Identify resident's clothing by name labels. Fold, hang, and stage clothing on racks for delivery to the units. Deliver resident clothing to the units, neatly hanging clothing in proper resident's closets and neatly placing fold-ups in resident's drawers. Collect excess hangers from resident's closets and return them to laundry for reuse. 6. Label or re-label resident clothing which item may come loose, because of a resident transferring, or a resident receiving new clothing. Clean Linen Tasks Manually fold and operate machinery and to feed, fold, iron, and stack resident bed linen. Load linen exchange carts with established par levels. Process various specialty items. Sewing Room Tasks Will use sewing machine, label maker and heat seal machine. Mend resident clothing. Mend linen items and various sew able or patchable items, Makes heat seal labels using the label maker computer. Label new resident clothing on admission and transferred resident clothing in resident's room using a portable heat seal device. Housekeeping Tasks Perform the housekeeping duties throughout the laundry including pull trash and reline all trashcans and take out empty boxes. Mop the offices and sewing room. Mop the men's and ladies' bathrooms and clean all fixtures. Mop the break room and wipe the table and counter. Clean the floors and windowsill throughout the laundry. Use compressed air to blow the surfaces and collect and dispose of the lint. Clean the exterior surfaces of the laundry processing equipment. Use compressed air to remove lint from the machinery, under the equipment. Wipe down exterior of equipment. Police the entrances and the area around the trash dumpsters. Blow down high dust from overhead structures, lights, and vents. Operate small washers and dryers to laundry mops, chair pads, and hair towels.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
May be asked to deliver clean linen and resident clothing. May be asked to assist collect and transport soiled linen. May be asked to deliver diapers and respond to call for additional linen needs. This job description is intended to be a guide to accomplish Fair Acres and the Laundry Department's objectives in providing care for our resident's. As such it only covers the primary functions of the job. All laundry personnel shall perform similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required or assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Work requires lifting and caring loads of 50 pounds, pushing racks, carts, and hampers, considerable walking and standing, and performing repetitive tasks in a warm, humid area. Must pass pre-employment physical. Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English. Must be able to demonstrate skills in performing assigned duties. Fair Acres is regulated by state and federal law. It has an active Compliance Program to enable Fair Acres to meet these state and federal requirements. You will be trained in compliance components that relate to the performance of your job. Compliance performance is an element that is included in evaluating your performance on the job. Failure to adhere to the compliance components of your job may result in discipline, up to and including dismissal.
