Job Description
JOB This recruitment is being established to obtain a current eligible list for both full time and Extra-Help vacancies. Extra-Help are not entitled to county benefits and are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week. Extra-Help pay is $27.48 - $30.31 per hour. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Investigates complaints and investigations concerning land use, illegal operations, and zoning compliance based on suspected or obvious violations. Conducts follow-up inspections on conditional of approval for land use permits. Makes recommendations for extensions and revocations of conditional and land use permits. May issue notices of violations and citations and appear before the Planning Commission. Advises the public on procedures for compliance with zoning and land use regulations. Maintains a complaint ledger, files, and other records of investigations. Works cooperatively with other departments on common enforcement problems and investigations. Studies and keeps abreast of applicable ordinances for departmental objectives, studies and projects.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Level IExperience:
Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in enforcement of administrative rules and regulations involving field investigations, responsibility to take legal enforcement action and substantial public contact in Government, i.e., City, County, State, Federal or any other allied field.Education:
Completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or university with major coursework in the social or behavioral sciences, law enforcement, public administration, or related field.Level IIExperience:
Two (2) years of experience comparable to a Code Enforcement Officer I in Merced County.Education:
Completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or university with major coursework in the social or behavioral sciences, law enforcement, public administration or related field.Both Levels:
Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to two years. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in the social or behavioral sciences, law enforcement, public administration, or related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. Possess a valid California driver's license at time of appointment and maintain.Special Requirement:
