Job Description
JOB The Department of Public Health (DPH), Animal Care Division, is seeking compassionate and dedicated Animal Care Attendants

OF EMPLOYMENT
Animal Euthanasia:
Please be aware, shelters currently participate in humane euthanasia of sick, injured, or unadopted impounded animals. Incumbents will be required to be certified on humane euthanasia upon hire.Physical:
Requires frequent standing and walking; frequent stooping and bending; and the ability to lift and restrain small to very large animals, both domestic and wild, which may weigh up to 100 pounds. Additionally, these positions require work in inclement weather.Travel & Driver License:
A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.Work Schedule:
Must be available to work weekends. Shift schedule may be 4-10 hour shifts as follows: 8:00am- 6:30pm Sunday
- Wednesday OR 8:00am
- 6:30pm Wednesday
- Saturday.
Pre-Employment Process:
Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.Visa Sponsorship:

Education Requirement:
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.ANDExperience Requirement:
Six (6) months of full-time experience in general public contact or customer service;- OR-Three (3) months of full-time equivalent experience in animal care and handling within an animal control or regulatory agency, veterinary clinic, animal care facility, or animal hospital.
