This role focuses on enforcing laws and ordinances related to: Animals Zoning and building codes Public nuisances Public health and safety The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the public.Position Details Department:

Four 10-hour shifts per weekShifts:
First and second shifts (includes weekends and on-call hours)Pay Range:
$24.62 - $30.75 per hour Minimum Requirements Must be 18 years or older High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license Ability to pass: Background check Pre-employment physical Drug screening Completion of required testing Preferred Qualifications Experience with: Law enforcement principles Building and zoning codes Animal restraint and care Strong computer skills (Excel, Word) NACA (National Animal Care and Control Association) certification (a plus) Benefits Package 100% employer-paid health insurance (employee premium) Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) Additional benefits: Dental & vision insurance Flexible Spending Account LegalShield AFLAC & supplemental plans Pet insurance KPERS retirement Paid time off: Vacation Sick leave 11 paid holidays Tuition reimbursement (up to $2,500/year) On-site fitness facility Wellness programs (YMCA/fitness discounts) Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Position Summary This is a non-exempt (FLSA) position responsible for enforcing municipal codes and zoning regulations, especially related to: Domestic animals Public health and safety The role requires strong: Communication Organization Public relations skills Essential Duties Apprehend nuisance or dangerous animals Maintain records and documentation Issue citations for violations Inspect properties for health and safety compliance Conduct limited zoning/building inspections Assist with animal cruelty investigations Remove deceased animals from public areas Learn and apply city ordinances and codes Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment Follow departmental policies and safety procedures Additional (Marginal) Duties Assist thePolice Department Support Sedgwick County Health and Zoning Departments Assist Wichita and Sedgwick County Animal Control Experience & Education Experience:
1 year preferred (not required) Expected to become proficient within 6-12 monthsEducation:
