Job Description
Requires successful post-offer completion of a background investigation, physical exam, and drug test (including marijuana/THC) as a condition of employment with the City of Harrisonville. General Definition of Work Performs work maintaining the City Animal Shelter, patrolling streets for lose, wild, or deceased animals, issuing citations and warnings, caring for the animals in the shelter, completing paperwork, maintaining records, files, and the office, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Animal Control Supervisor. Essential Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Enforces animal ordinances; patrols and answers calls for service; issues citations, violations, and warnings as needed. Attends and completes necessary training. Provides appropriate care for animals housed at the shelter; maintains and cleans the facility and animals to prevent the spread of disease. Purchases supplies for the shelter as needed. Maintains full and complete records on animals confined at the shelter and provide a tracking system for all animals received at the shelter. Assists with maintaining the shelter's schedule. Updates the shelter's various social media platforms. Inspects and reports needed repairs to the Chief Animal Control officer to ensure equipment functions correctly. Collects redemption fees from owners whose animals are claimed from the shelter in accordance with city ordinance. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Special Qualifications Become Certified through the Missouri Animal Control Association (MACA) within six months of hire. Complete National Animal Control (NACA) Humane Officer Academy Module A within six months of hire. Complete the National Animal Cruelty Investigation School through the University of Missouri within twelve months of hire. A valid driver's license in the State of Missouri. Pay ranges from $17.39 per hour up to $27.82 per hour, plus a generous benefit package. Medical/Dental/Vision
