Non exempt SUMMARY Inspects existing building sites and dwelling unit sites, and their surrounding areas, to determine compliance with city ordinance standards, and enforces the Municipal Code of Ordinances by performing the following duties. Regular Attendance is an essential function of this job. The Municipal Code Enforcement Officer works both inside in an office environment and outside in all types of weather. Light lifting will occasionally be required. •This position will be cross-trained in Building Department administration.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Inspects exterior premises for overall cleanliness, adequate disposal of garbage and rubbish, and for signs of vermin infestation and for any build up of materials that is prohibited by ordinance, junk vehicles, tall grass or other violations. Prepares forms and letters advising property owners and tenants of possible violations and time allowed for correcting deficiencies. Issues citations if necessary and documents cases for Municipal Court. Consults file of violation reports and revisits dwellings at periodic intervals to verify correction of violations by property owners and tenants. Explains requirements of Municipal Code Ordinance to property owners, building contractors, and other interested parties. Addresses complaints regarding Municipal Code Enforcement issues and seeks to resolve situations through all appropriate means available. Maintains records regarding all above stated duties. Assisting the building department with day to day operation as needed. Basic knowledge of Word and Excel Good customer service attitude Prior construction administration experience is preferredSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
