Animal Care & Community Resource Coordinator Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire - 4.0 Bedford, NH Job Details Full-time From $20 an hour 12 hours ago Qualifications Computer operation Volunteer management Computer literacy Driver's License Driving Organizational skills Full Job Description Company Overview The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to rescuing and caring for over 2,000 cats, dogs, and small animals annually. Beyond shelter services, the League actively engages in community outreach programs such as pet food assistance and low-cost spay/neuter clinics to support pet owners and promote animal welfare. Position Summary (Four (10) hours days OR five (8) hour days. One weekend day included) The Animal Care & Community Resource Coordinator plays a key role in keeping pets with their families by connecting community members to resources both internally and externally. This position supports the day-to-day operations of the Pet Food Pantry while also assisting clients with access to veterinary and pet care resources, and serving as a compassionate, knowledgeable point of contact for individuals navigating financial or personal challenges related to pet ownership. This role works closely with the Community Engagement Team to expand outreach efforts, increase program awareness and accessibility, and ultimately drive stronger community trust, deeper engagement, and improved outcomes for both animals and the people who care for them.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Relating toAnimal Care:
Provides necessary care to ARLNH animals including feeding, watering, cleaning, grooming, and ensuring environmental enrichment occurs. Ensures that the facility is cleaned, disinfected, and organized to ARLNH standards including but not limited to doing laundry, removing trash or debris, and stocking supplies. Communicates issues or concerns in a timely manner to the Chief Operating Officer, Leadership Team, or co-workers about relevant issues. Including but not limited to human and animal safety, supply needs, customer service issues, and observations/suggestions about operational improvements. Responsible for helping with ARLNH opening and closing procedures. Ensures that appropriate signage is used, including replacing dated or non-functional signage. Evaluates and monitors, on an ongoing basis, the health and behavior of all animals in the shelter. Provides immediate feedback to the Chief Operating Officer, or the Leadership Team, immediately regarding any animal concern. Relating to Pet Food Pantry Program Administer the daily operations of the Pet Food Pantry, including inventory, organization, and distribution of supplies Administer Meals on Wheels partnership to support clients with pets, ensuring timely and consistent distribution of pet food and supplies twice a month Coordinate and execute monthly pet food and supply distributions to partner human food pantries, including scheduling, packing, and delivery logistics Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to effectively engage and utilize volunteers in pet food pantry operations; support and supervise volunteers assisting with pantry operations Maintain accurate records of clients served, pounds of food distributed, and program impact for reporting purposes Relating to Client Support & Resource Navigation Serve as a point of contact for individuals seeking assistance for their pets Assess client needs and connect them with appropriate resources, including veterinary care assistance, behavior support, pet supplies, and human service referrals when appropriate Discuss details with appropriate team members to facilitate the best course of action for family and pets in need. Serve as a primary point of contact for a pet support helpline, responding to inquiries via phone and email, providing guidance on pet care, behavior, and available resources, and triaging cases to appropriate internal programs or external partners as needed. Provide clear, consistent communication to clients regarding available programs, eligibility, and next steps Communicate with clients in a respectful, empathetic, and non-judgmental manner Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions and services provided Relating to Outreach & Community Engagement Support outreach efforts to increase awareness of available resources Represent the organization at community events as needed Maintain and build relationships with community partners, donors, and volunteers Assist in developing materials or messaging that clearly communicate available support Other duties as assigned to support evolving community needsOther Duties and Responsibilities:
Attends staff meetings and trainings as assigned. Participates in discussions about animal care plans and makes recommendations accordingly with regard to fostering, adoption, and/or euthanasia for all animals. Complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to navigate sensitive or complex situations with compassion and strength Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Comfort working directly with the public in a service-oriented role Ability to lift and move pet food and supplies (up to ~50 lbs) Basic computer skills (data entry, email, spreadsheets) Require two years of driving experience and a valid driver's license. Ability to handle a fast paced environment with ever changing needs Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and stand for periods of time and actively traverse a 15,000 square foot building and small spaces (such as kennels) quickly and effectively. Ability to perceive and communicate, both orally and in writing, changes in animal behavior and/or medical symptoms and safety issues. Education Bachelor's Degree preferred Experience in human services, animal welfare, social work, veterinary knowledge, or a related field preferredNO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
