Job Description
Adoptions Coordinator (Full-Time, Weekends, Year Round) About ARF Hamptons Since 1974, the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) has been dedicated to rescuing and rehoming homeless and abandoned animals. Through the committed efforts of our staff and volunteers, tens of thousands of cats and dogs have received compassionate care, medical attention, training, and ultimately, loving homes. Position Summary The Adoptions Coordinator plays a key role in ARF's mission by matching adoptable cats and dogs with appropriate, loving families. This is a full-time, public-facing position responsible for guiding adopters through the adoption process, maintaining accurate records, promoting adoptable animals, supporting volunteers, and assisting with adoption events. Key Responsibilities Interview and screen potential adopters to ensure successful and appropriate placements Supervise pet introductions and ask necessary screening questions tactfully and professionally Greet visitors and respond to adoption inquiries via phone, email, and in person Maintain accurate animal and adoption records using ShelterLuv software Ensure all adoption paperwork is complete and accurate Update the ARF website with new animal profiles, including high-quality photos and engaging descriptions Conduct post-adoption follow-up with adopters Assist with planning and staffing off-site adoption events Participate in off-site adoption events Train, assign tasks to, and supervise Adoption Center volunteers Safely transport animals, including driving ARF's 20-foot adoptions van Ensure the safety and well-being of animals, staff, volunteers, and the public Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma required; college degree preferred Minimum of three years of experience in customer service, sales, or a related field Experience working with, handling, or training companion animals Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm under pressure and ask difficult questions professionally Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Computer proficiency; experience with ShelterLuv and digital photography a plus Valid NYS Driver's License required and comfort driving a 20' van Must be physically capable of handling animals, lifting up to 50 lbs , and standing for extended periods.
