Job Description

WEEKEND ASSISTANT DOG WARDEN
The Board of Commissioners of Defiance County, Ohio, is accepting applications for the position of Weekend Assistant Dog Warden. This is a part-time, classified position covering every other weekend. All County employees are participants in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
Wage will be as follows:
on-call pay of $100/day and if called out, will receive a minimum of two hours of regular pay. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: performing a variety of dog warden duties, impounding dogs, investigating animal bites, examining dog licenses, maintaining files as required, supplying food, water and care to detained animals, and additional duties as requested by the Chief Dog Warden or the Board of County Commissioners. Must have the ability to use a computer and related software, office equipment, research specific laws as needed, ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, have sound judgment, and be in good physical condition. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent certification; secondary education in criminal justice preferred. Must possess a valid State of Ohio Motor Vehicle Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.
