Job Description

The Animal Control Supervisor provides direct leadership and oversight for Greenville County Animal Care's field services division. This position supervises Animal Control Officers and the Animal Control dispatcher, managing daily field operations, scheduling, on-call rotations, and performance accountability while ensuring compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. The supervisor reviews reports and investigations, responds to complex or high-liability incidents, and ensures consistent enforcement practices that support both public safety and humane animal outcomes. This role also serves as the primary operational link between Animal Control field services and Animal Care (shelter) operations, helping coordinate intake, evidence animals, dangerous dog cases, and other sensitive situations. The supervisor works closely with shelter leadership, the Sheriff's Office, and County administration to maintain efficient operations, accurate documentation for legal proceedings, and a professional, accountable team culture. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this position holds full supervisory authority and plays a key role in strengthening field operations, improving processes, and supporting the continued modernization of animal services. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of five (5) years of Animal Control or equivalent enforcement experience is required, with prior supervisory experience preferred. Applicants must hold NACA Level 1, Level 2, and Animal Cruelty Investigator certifications and successfully complete firearms training and certification through the Greenville County Sheriff's Office with ongoing qualification within 1 year of employment. The position requires a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
