Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE
The purpose of the Breeding Specialist to perform daily production tasks involved in the breeding process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Specifically, the Breeding Specialist is responsible for the following activities:
Production/Production Scheduling:
Conduct artificial breeding, as directed Perform daily heat checks on animals and check bred groups for recycles Perform routine and seasonal vaccinations, as directed Assist with monthly inventory counts Perform general feed maintenance on bred and open animals Ensure a proper animal environment, including but not limited to ventilation, water, and feed Ensure a clean animal housing environment Assist in power washing, as assigned Ensure that SFI training program requirements and procedures are being met and followed Maintain and follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc. Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation. Documentation Assist in maintaining all sow breeding records and documentation on sow removal records, transactions, and treatment records Maintain PQA certification status The preceding statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned this classification. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate Schwartz Farms' values of integrity, respect, excellence and adaptability Advocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse Maintain and promote a safe working environment Additional duties may be assigned as they arise
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
Weekend and Holiday work rotations as established by Supervisor will be required
