CASA DC connects specially-trained volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates to support vulnerable and at-risk youth in foster care and the juvenile justice system. CASAs develop a mentor-like relationship with their youth and advocate for their youth's best interests in Court, promoting greater outcomes and the opportunity to thrive. The agency is organized as a charitable corporation under the not-for-profit laws of the District of Columbia. It is qualified as a tax-exempt charitable organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3 and is classified as a public charity. Position Overview The CASA Supervisor, Empower is employed by CASA for Children of DC (CASA DC) and is responsible for supporting the CASA volunteers paired with approximately 15-25 court-involved youth in DC who are suspected or confirmed survivors of human trafficking, sexual abuse, and other forms of sexual violence. The CASA Supervisor, Empower works directly with community and private agencies to provide high-quality advocacy. Responsibilities Program Responsibilities Supervise the Empower Program; Remain current on trends and best practices on how to serve the youth engaged in the Empower program; Engage and develop a strong working relationship with the professionals, and community-based partners and Identify funding opportunities; Case Management Responsibilities Work with court and community partners to garner youth referrals and ensure all case referrals are matched with a CASA volunteer in a timely manner; Coach CASA volunteers through monthly contact and quarterly planning meetings, forming a strong supportive relationship; Consult on and edit CASA volunteer reports for court hearings; ensure CASA reports are filed prior to each hearing and distributed to all parties; Maintain accurate and confidential paper and electronic case files; Ensure volunteers feel valued, appreciated and supported in their work as CASAs; and Manage data to provide program reports so that organizational leadership may make informed decisions while demonstrating accountability to stakeholders. In accordance with CASA team philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description. Knowledge & Skills Bachelor's degree in social work, education, public administration, or a related field required; Experience in volunteer and/or case management (juvenile and child welfare systems, preferred) and/or experience working with youth who have experienced trauma Completed professional development or education in the impact of trauma or trauma-informed work highly preferred Clear and concise oral communication and writing skills needed for court reports and daily correspondence with volunteers, case team members, and CASA DC staff; Organizational skills for keeping accurate, confidential and up-to-date case files for all volunteers and children; and Professional experience with Google Suite and Salesforce preferred.
