Youth and Adult Mediator - Ashe and Wilkes Counties

Job description The Mediation & Restorative Justice Center (MRJC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth and Adult Mediator to join our team in Ashe and Wilkes Counties . This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by facilitating youth mediation and adult District Court mediation. The role includes mediation services, program coordination, community outreach, and administrative assistance as part of MRJC's regional team serving multiple counties in Western North Carolina .

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate youth mediation and adult District Court mediation services. Provide coordination for youth programs. Engage with youth, adults, families, and stakeholders using a trauma-informed, restorative approach . Maintain accurate documentation and case records . Assist with outreach, community engagement, and program development. Provide administrative support , including scheduling, reporting, and data management. Collaborate with local schools, courts, law enforcement, and community organizations. Additional travel and program services to include Yadkin and Alleghany Counties once a month each.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of legal/criminal justice and social services systems, experience in mediation, restorative justice, youth services and/or working with at-risk youth, and/or criminal justice preferred. Strong verbal and written communication, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills . Ability to work independently and as part of a regional team . Detail-oriented with strong organizational and administrative skills . Comfortable working with court-involved youth, adults, and families . Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred (Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Human Services, Communication, English, Public/Business Administration etc.). Associate's with significant relevant experience will be considered. Reliable transportation required for travel within Ashe, Wilkes, Alleghany, and Yadkin Counties.

Position Details:

This position offers flexible scheduling for either a part-time or full-time (up to 35 hours/week) position, based on the candidate's preference. Some remote work flexibility, but in-person services are required. Resident of Ashe or Wilkes preferred.
