Jury Administrator (Bailiff) / Floater 25 North Broadway Street, Peru, IN 46970 From $46,574 a year - Full-time From $46,574 a year - Full-time Job Overview Miami County Circuit Court has an immediate opening for a full-time Jury Administrator (Bailiff) / Floater. The right candidate must be proficient with computers, email, ability to learn new platforms, and have exceptional organizational and communication skills. The Jury Administrator (Bailiff) also floats to cover the Court Administrator and Court Reporter. A typical work week is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with an hour lunch. This position is not law enforcement or security. All applicants must pass a drug test and background check prior to the start of employment. This position will start on or after June 29, 2026. Responsibilities • Prepare and email all daily Circuit Court calendars and any necessary associated documents. • Fill-in for Court Administrator or Court Reporter during sick/vacation days. This position must learn two other persons' jobs - all Circuit Court employees are cross-trained. Oversee jury trials and grand jury proceedings, enforcing Circuit Court rules and monitoring Court proceedings, including passing exhibits, monitoring jury and audience, and ensuring proper Court security. Oversee jurors during trials. This includes jury deliberations, issuing instructions and ensuring juror welfare and compliance with proper Court procedures. Prepare statistical reports, reviews pending cases, prepares notices of dismissal for cases as directed by Judge, and makes entries for dismissal. Assists with oversight of proceedings supplemental hearings. Performs other tasks as assigned. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and ability to prepare detailed written reports and legal documents as required. Ability to work alone, with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment, amidst frequent distractions and interruptions, and work on multiple tasks at once, often under pressure. Ability to type with speed and accuracy and properly operate standard office equipment, such as computer, calculator, fax machine, scanner, telephone, copier, and courtroom recording equipment. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with fellow employees, other County departments, attorneys, government agencies, law enforcement agencies, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities. Ability to work evenings and/or extended hours as needed. Knowledge of legal terminology and Miami County court system policies and practices as prescribed in state and local rules. (Preferred) Thorough knowledge of all court proceedings. (Preferred) Working knowledge of standard policies and practices of courts, with ability to effectively apply appropriate procedures to regular and recurring duties. (Preferred)
