Job Description

Starting pay $21.00 per hour. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or foreign education equivalent to a US Accredited High School Diploma and one (1) year of experience in a customer focused position. Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years. Under supervision, acts as a liaison between the judge and jurors during a jury trial and facilitates efficient courtroom proceedings. Distributes and tracks case files and documents, prepares and secures courtrooms and juries, assists victims and witnesses during court proceedings, administers oaths, assists judges and attorneys, and maintains court exhibits. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace. Maintains order in courtroom during trial. Enforces courtroom rules of behavior and warns persons not to disturb court procedure. Secures, sequesters, and escorts jurors to the courtroom. Acts as a liaison between judge, juries, attorneys, and witnesses. Conducts orientation for jurors. Prepares the courtroom for jury trials and court proceedings. Documents attendance for jurors reporting for duty and keeps jurors together during breaks. Prepares jury and courtroom for deliberation. Orders meals for deliberating jurors. Provides jury escort to areas outside of courtroom to prevent jury contact with public. Keeps jurors together in any evacuation circumstances. Checks courtroom for security and cleanliness and assures availability of supplies. Stops people from entering courtroom while judge charges jury. Reports need for police or medical assistance to sheriff's office. Performs related work as assigned. Some knowledge of the court system. Some knowledge of the criminal justice system. Skill in active listening. Skill in de-escalation techniques. Ability to identify and report problems. Ability to recommend solutions for juror difficulties. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
