293181374 Job Description Kitsap County Superior Court is seeking dependable and service-oriented Bailiff's to play a vital role in the administration of justice during jury trials. This on-call opportunity places you at the heart of courtroom operations, where your professionalism, organization, and calm presence directly support fair and efficient trial proceedings. In this role, you will help ensure the orderly movement, care, and coordination of jury pools while maintaining courtroom decorum and confidentiality. Bailiffs interact daily with judges, attorneys, defendants, corrections staff, and members of the public, making this a highly visible and impactful position within the Criminal Justice system. This temporary, on-call position is ideal for individuals seeking meaningful public service experience, exposure to courtroom processes, and the opportunity to contribute to the integrity of Kitsap County's judicial system. As a Bailiff, you will: Ensure courtroom order and decorum by assisting judges and maintaining secure, organized court and jury facilities. Coordinate and manage the movement and custody of trial juries, including escorting jurors to and from courtrooms and jury deliberation rooms. Support jury operations by assisting with jury impaneling, transmitting court instructions and exhibits, and remaining available during deliberations until verdicts are reached. Deliver jury orientation presentations to panels ranging from 35 to 100 potential jurors, clearly communicating court rules, expectations, and procedures. Facilitate juror services during trials, including making phone calls on jurors' behalf and responding to logistical needs. Oversee jury and courtroom amenities by preparing refreshments, maintaining water and counsel table supplies, and coordinating jury lunches. Coordinate courthouse jail transports by working closely with corrections and jail personnel. Uphold strict confidentiality standards while working in a highly sensitive legal environment.
What You Bring:
Professional Experience:
 Two years of experience working with the public in a customer service, office, legal, or court environment, demonstrating professionalism and sound judgment.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
 Ability to speak clearly and confidently in front of large groups. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with jurors, judges, attorneys, defendants, corrections staff, and the public.
Operational & Organizational Skills:
 Proven ability to follow detailed procedures, manage multiple responsibilities, and remain composed in a structured, high-accountability environment.
Confidentiality & Integrity:
 Demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain strict confidentiality within a court of record.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Previous service as a trial juror within the past seven (7) years. Six (6) months of experience in public hospitality or customer-facing service roles. Six (6) months of experience working in courts or with courtroom processes. Prior experience in public speaking or delivering presentations. No benefits are offered with this position except those required by the state or federal law.
