Work Schedule:
40hrs./week Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: This position provides investigative and analytical support to the Forensic Investigations Bureau. The employee assists with collecting, processing, documenting, and organizing information and evidence for Medical Examiner cases. This work involves exposure to sensitive death investigations case related information on active police cases. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to communicate professionally with law enforcement offices, healthcare providers, grieving families, and other outside agencies. Key Responsibilities Assist investigators with collecting and documenting pertinent case-related information for deaths under the Medical Examiner's purview. Collect and document personal, medical, and investigative information from families, physicians, hospitals, and law enforcement agents. Process and document cases being reported to the Medical Examiner for processing. Organize and maintain case files, logs, and reports accurately in the department's case tracking system. Conduct follow-ups to gather additional records, details, and confirm case information with grieving families, healthcare providers, and law enforcement. Provide assistance to families and funeral homes regarding disposition, and procedural information. Assist investigators by requesting and coordinating medical records, evidence, and specimens as needed. Assist and coordinate the transportation for deceased individuals and ensure proper handling and documentation. Assist the investigators with case tracking efforts to locate next of kin as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic understanding of investigation and fact-finding methods. Basic familiarity with medical, legal, and forensic terminology. Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to follow established procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with grieving families and professional agencies. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and complete work in a timely manner. Proficiency in computer systems, data entry, and report preparation. Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality. Bilingual preferred. • Note • This position supports a seven-day-a-week operation and is scheduled for 40 hours per week. The employee will be required to work a flexible schedule that may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.

$24.00 per hour
