AUTOPSY TECHNICIAN

District 20

Medical Examiner Full-Time Autopsy Technician:

Weekdays and Rotating on-call weekends and holidays. Overtime available, as needed. Applicant must reside in Collier or Lee County, be a US citizen or have a current US work visa. Please do not apply if you are going back to school, plan to work in law enforcement or crime scene or are not familiar with the work environment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Forensics, forensic anthropology, forensic investigations, forensic photography, or experience assisting at a medical examiner's office, laboratory or hospital Job Description Assist medical examiner with autopsies Work weekdays and rotating on-call weekends and holidays and overtime, as needed Must be available to work during and following county, state or national crises or disasters Prepare body for autopsy, take photographs, x-rays, clean after autopsy Responsible for record keeping, labeling, storing and maintaining chain of evidence Must be able to move a 200-pound deceased person unassisted Must be able to read and write English proficiently. Must be computer literate Must properly communicate verbally and in writing Excellent organizational skills required Able to work under pressure and maintain composure and a good attitude Must be able to learn and understand medical and legal terminology Must show respect for the deceased, their families, co-workers, supervisors and other agency personnel Must be flexible, assist co-workers and work agreeably in a team environment Carry out other morgue duties, as assigned Salary Starting salary $25.00/hourly.
