Job Description
The Monroe County Coroner's Office is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Coroner to join our team. This position involves both protective and administrative responsibilities associated with medicolegal death investigations. The Deputy Coroner serves a vital role in determining cause and manner of death, supporting families during crisis, and ensuring compliance with state and county policies and procedures. This position may be full-time or part-time depending on the needs of the office. Minimum qualifications for the position are as follows: Must possess a Vocational/Technical degree with emphasis in biology, chemistry, pathology, medicine, or a related field Must possess at least three (3) years of previous experience in law enforcement, forensic investigation, emergency medical field work, or morgue/lab assistance with a working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license Must have passed the Basic Coroner's Course and the Medicolegal Death Investigation Course (or be able to attend the next session) Must be CPR and First Aid certified If you don't meet every qualification but believe you have the skills, experience, and mindset for this role, we encourage you to apply.
