Assistant District Medical Examiner--Death Investigator Linn County District Attorney's Office - 5.0 Albany, OR Job Details Part-time From $32 an hour 2 days ago Qualifications Nurse Practitioner (NP) Performing background checks Medical License Physician Assistant License Full Job Description The Linn County Medical Examiner's Office is tasked with investigating unattended, sudden, natural, accidental and suspicious deaths occurring in Linn County. The Assistant District Medical Examiner (ADME) will work alongside the Linn County District Medical Examiner with overseeing the Linn County Medical Examiner's Office. Linn County is looking for individuals who are interested in conducting death investigations in a thorough, dignified and professional manner for the community. This is an on-call part-time job. On-call schedules are flexible to enable the ADME to maintain other primary employment. The ADME works closely with EMS and law enforcement agencies to determine the cause and manner of a person's death. They evaluate death scenes, interview involved parties, review medical records and examine bodies. ADMEs write investigation reports and provide important information for inclusion in death certificates. You may also be required to attend autopsies performed by the State's Medical Examiner. ADMEs are responsible for the administration of county medical examiner programs. They review reports of medicolegal death investigators, sign death certificates in cases that do not require the expertise of a forensic pathologist or ancillary testing such as postmortem forensic toxicology, and communicate with the State Medical Examiner's Office when necessary. Prior experience with death investigations is not required. This job will provide you with the opportunity to receive specialized training in death investigations. You will receive coaching and periodic training and will be the supervision of the local District Medical Examiner and the State's Medical Examiner's office. Qualifications • Physician licensed under ORS chapter 677; or • Physician associate licensed under
ORS 677.505
to 677.525; or • Nurse Practitioner licensed under
ORS 678.375
to 678.390 Other preferred qualifications include: Background of relevance to the position. Ability to respond promptly to any death scene in Linn County. Good communication and report writing skills. Available to commit to be on call at least 3 days of a month. Must pass a thorough background check. Pay Monthly ADME stipend $1,055.
For on call duties:
$32/hour while conducting investigations plus a $72/per-day on-call stipend.
