JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides part-time management support for Forensic Transport unit including, planning, assigning and supervising all activities of the 24/7 Forensic Transport unit of the Office of the Medical Examiner, which is responsible for the removal and transport of decedent remains from the location of death. Ensures compliance with applicable standards, laws, Dallas County policies and procedures. Assists with staff recruiting and work assignment scheduling.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Must possess thorough knowledge of standard decedent removal and transport protocols. Ability to implement and follow direction without direct supervision. Ability to direct and evaluate the work activities of subordinates. Ability to write accurately and legibly. Ability to work cooperatively. Ability to implement and use good chemical, biological, and ergonomic safety practices and precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment. Knowledge of standard software applications and ability to utilize specialized applications specific to department. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, prepare reports, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Work hours and availability for calls varies based on the needs of the 24/7 operation. Must pass criminal background check and mandatory drug test prior to and during employment. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with a good driving record and reliable transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Forensic Science, Funeral Service, Mortuary Science, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or in a job-related field of study. Two (2) years of professional work-related experience.
