The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill a Juvenile Justice Unit Supervisor position located on the Girls Treatment Unit at the McLaughlin Youth Center. What you will be doing The Girls Treatment Juvenile Justice Unit Supervisor oversees and manages a treatment program in a juvenile justice facility for at-risk adolescent females who have been adjudicated delinquent and institutionalized by the court. This position supervises the day-to-day functions of a team of Juvenile Justice Counselor 3s and Juvenile Justice Counselor 1/2s. To ensure the delivery of a quality treatment program and the proper care and safety of residents, staff and the community, the Treatment Program Supervisor is charged with seeing that the treatment program is developed and implemented in accordance with the Division of Juvenile Justice`s Restorative Justice mission and philosophy, and consistent with current evidenced-based treatment practices, Division and Facility Policies and Procedures, Alaska Statutes, Alaska Administrative Code, and Performance-based Standards. The working environment you can expect This position is located on a secure unit at the McLaughlin Youth Center, a 24-hour juvenile detention and treatment facility located on 22 acres near the University of Alaska, Anchorage and Providence Hospital. This position works 40-hour weeks, Monday through Friday. This includes a break period in which you can take advantage of the local trail system within the UMED district. To view the general description and example of duties for the Juvenile Justice Unit Supervisor, please go to the following link: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/Alaska/ classspecs Minimum Qualifications One year of experience as a working leader or shift supervisor providing a full range of care, custody, treatment, counseling, and security functions to residents in a juvenile justice facility, including training and directing lower level staff performing these functions. The required experience is met by service as a Juvenile Justice Officer 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere. OR One year of experience providing case management to clients in a juvenile program or facility. The required experience is met by service as a Juvenile Probation Officer 2 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.

Prior to initial appointment, successful candidates for the Juvenile Justice Officer series and Juvenile Justice Unit Supervisor positions are subject to a background investigation, criminal record check, and medical examination to determine the essential duties of the position can be safely performed.
