Job Description

at Department of Corrections in Crest Hill, Illinois, United States Job Description Position Overview The position serves as Unit Manager of the Reception and Classification (R & C) Center. This person selected will serve as a full line supervisor, execute timely and appropriate transfers, and respond to individual in custody issues and concerns via interviews by request. In addition, they will monitor case management functions, records office, mail room, and individual in custody property control functions. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply. Â Essential Functions Serves as Unit Manager of the Reception and Classification (R & C) Center. Serves as full line supervisor. Executes timely and appropriate transfers according to needs of individuals in custody and in accordance with the safety and security needs of the R & C Center. Responds to individual in custody issues and concerns by holding interviews upon request. Monitors case management functions, records office, mail room and individual in custody property control functions. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in corrections, criminal justice, law enforcement or a related field. Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a custody program in a correctional facility. Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least four (4) years of professional experience handling operation logistics including inspections, preparing reports, making recommendations for improvements, and assisting with budget and budget projections. Prefers at least four (4) years of professional experience assisting individuals in custody with problems and monitoring case management functions. Prefers at least four (4) years of professional supervisory experience. Prefers at least four (4) years of professional experience in planning, organizing and managing property control operations. Prefers at least four (4) years of professional experience in planning, organizing and managing laundry operations. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to pass the

background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited. Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non- State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non- State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor ( OEIG ) or may be subject to a fine. This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings. Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
