INMATE WORKER COORDINATOR

Salary range: $50,000.00-$75,000.00. This range does not include State Supplemental Pay. State Supplemental Pay is available to individuals who are P.O.S.T. Level I or Level II certified, or who agree to complete a Level I or Level II Academy within the first year of employment. Additional pay differentials are available for college education, military service, and prior law enforcement experience. The Sheriff has announced an opening for an Inmate Worker Coordinator in the Corrections Section of the Detention Division under the command of Major Cortrell Davis.

Applicants must have:

College degree preferred; Valid Louisiana's driver's license; Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills; Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability; Strong communication and reporting skills; Dependability and initiative. The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: o Overseeing all inmate worker operations within the Detention Division; o Screening, selecting, and placing inmates in appropriate work assignments and projects, including pre-screening assignments to allow for overlap and ensure continuous coverage without vacancies; o Establishing and maintaining eligibility criteria and an assignment matrix, including applicable differentials, to ensure consistent and equitable placement decisions; o Coordinating and assigning inmates to crews and work sites; o Developing and maintaining schedules, tracking assignments, and ensuring adequate coverage; o Coordinating and overseeing the orientation process for inmate workers, including providing or arranging training as needed and ensuring proper equipment, tools, and supplies are available; o Assisting with training, orientation, and development of inmates assigned to work assignments and projects as needed; o Supervising and supporting Inmate Work Crew Deputies; o Monitoring inmate participation, work performance, and compliance with LPCC rules; o Enforcing disciplinary measures when necessary and documenting violations; o Ensuring safety protocols are followed during transport and on job sites; o Reviewing and approving daily reports, and maintaining records of inmate worker performance, work hours, and tasks performed by each individual and assigned agency or organization; o Serving as the primary point of contact for agencies, departments, and community partners requesting inmate workers; o Other duties as assigned. Applicants will appear before an Oral Review Board, which will be scheduled in the week following the deadline date. The Oral Review Board will consider, but will not be limited to the following information: years of service, college education, military service, training certifications, special skills and dependability. This position receives an annual salary of $50,000-$75,000. This position may be eligible for State Supplemental Pay. The deadline to is Monday, April 20, 2026 at 1700 hours.
