- Institutions Operations Job Classification Title Correctional Lieutenant II (S) Position Number 60068006 Grade NC09 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. $41,206.00 - $72,113.00 This is a position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, NC (Rowan County), which is a Medium male prison facility housing 800 inmates. This position reports to a Correctional Captain II. Employee serves as first-line supervisors of Correctional Sergeant II's. Employees may serve as Officer-in-Charge in absence of the Correctional Captain.Key Duties:
- Supervises and provides leadership to subordinate correctional staff.
- Maintains institutional security and safety through enforcement of correctional policies, monitoring of offenders, and staff activities.
- Oversees daily operations management.
- Directs offender management to ensure proper supervision and compliance with institutional procedures and standards.
- Prepares, reviews, and maintains reports, and documentations.
- Responds to emergencies, disturbances, and critical incidents.
- Ensures compliance with departmental policies, and procedures.

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.Application Process:
