Detention Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Detention Officer to join our team. As a Detention Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the facility, ensuring the well-being of inmates, and upholding the law. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining order and discipline.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and monitor inmates to prevent escape or disturbances
• Enforce facility rules and regulations
• Conduct regular checks of cells and common areas
• Respond to emergencies and alarms, and take appropriate action
• Maintain accurate records of inmate activities and behavior
• Conduct searches of inmates and their personal belongings
• Manage conflicts and disputes between inmates
• Conduct reports and submit them to management
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• A valid Driver's License
• A clean criminal history
• Subject to passing a drug test
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
• Certification and previous Detention Officer experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain a professional demeanor
• Ability to operate CCTV systems
• A strong understanding of the law and the role of a Detention Officer
• Ability to work night shifts and weekends as required
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Ability to work with inmates with mental health issues
• Ability to work in a militarized environment
• Ability to handle conflict and provide first aid as necessary
