Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Detention Officer to join our team. As a Detention Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the facility, ensuring the well-being of inmates, and upholding the law. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining order and discipline.Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor inmates to prevent escape or disturbances
- Enforce facility rules and regulations
- Conduct regular checks of cells and common areas
- Respond to emergencies and alarms, and take appropriate action
- Maintain accurate records of inmate activities and behavior
- Conduct searches of inmates and their personal belongings
- Manage conflicts and disputes between inmates
- Conduct reports and submit them to management
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid Driver's License
- A clean criminal history
- Subject to passing a drug test
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- Certification and previous Detention Officer experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain a professional demeanor
- Ability to operate CCTV systems
- A strong understanding of the law and the role of a Detention Officer
- Ability to work night shifts and weekends as required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Ability to work with inmates with mental health issues
- Ability to work in a militarized environment
- Ability to handle conflict and provide first aid as necessary
