Yes - Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance. Purpose of Job The purpose of this job is to provide surveillance and security control of all doors and gates for the jail facility by monitoring, receiving and prioritizing all CCTV, radio, intercom, and telephone communications related to the movement in and around the jail facility. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and reporting activation of life safety alarm systems. Job Related RequirementsWORK SCHEDULE
Twelve (12) hour shift from 7:45-7:45 will be assigned permanently to days or nights. Shift assignments are made at the discretion of the Sheriff or his designee. Weekends and holidays are included and overtime is required from time to time. May be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others. When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy. Emergency Position This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous law enforcement or corrections experience not required. This position requires a 12-month probationary period. The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Operate Central Control panels and controls and manage entry authorization by confirmation of visual identification of staff members, member badges, visitor badges, or other designated authorization. Maintain control of all entry/exit doors and gates accessible to persons inside the facility. Maintain control of all entry/exit gates to the perimeter of the facility including access of authorized vehicles to and from the facility only after positive identification. Notify appropriate staff of entry of vehicles or pedestrians. Maintain and keep a watchful eye on all video surveillance monitors for security and internal and external radio transmissions pertaining to the facility. Maintain and monitor all security intercoms within the facility and in-house telephone system. Activate jail security staff to any area of the facility where it appears that officer back up is required. Initiate and/or maintain continuous radio contact with members and supervisors involved in any disturbance, emergency or unusual situation in the facility. Responsible for back up panel control of all housing areas as needed. Maintain and monitor all internal and external life safety alarms (IE:
Panels, Doors, and Gates). Responsible for notifying the proper authorities in emergency situations (IE:
Fire, Ambulance, and Police). Maintain and keep a daily activity log, either written or computer generated to record movement and activity as specified in the Central Control Post Order. Maintain cleanliness of Central Control area. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the Sheriff's Office policy, procedures, and activities as they complete training in the performance of their duties as Central Control Operator. Knowledge of radio ten codes after training has concluded. Knowledge of federal/state statutes, departmental policy, procedures, and methods used in the daily performance of their duties. Knowledge of the facility layout both internal and external. Knowledge of all contacts for any emergencies. (IE:
Fire, Ambulance, Police) after training has been completed. Knowledge and ability to operate the various equipment needed in the daily performance of their job (I.e. computer, telephone, radio, recorder, and control panel). Skill in oral and written communication, decision making, maintaining logs, records, and written reports. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff members. Ability to apply independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations. Ability to comprehend and apply military time for documentation. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize daily work activities. Ability to comprehend and apply departmental policy and procedures. Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including telephones, copiers, cameras, recorder, control panel and computer. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials.This position requires:

: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as computers, telephones, calculators, printers, copiers, control panels, etc. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.COLOR DISCRIMINATION
Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT
Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under minimum stress when confronted with an emergency.PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION
