Detention Deputy

In this position you will perform general security duties for the Caribou County Detention Facility. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring inmate activities and safety, booking and releasing of inmates, transportation of inmates to other facilities, monitoring all deputy and inmate's movement throughout the facility, and other related duties as required. The job is physically demanding. The applicant must possess good communication skills, unimpeachable integrity, and a strong commitment to public service and to the community that we serve. The position requires working 40+ hours a week in rotating shifts that include working nights, weekends, and holidays. Benefits include paid vacations, holiday pay, sick leave, medical, dental, vision, and PERSI retirement. Applicants must pass a physical fitness test, background investigation, and oral interviews. Good character and a clean background are required. Experience preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalency is required Comprehensive knowledge of computers and data entry Corrections/detention experience is preferred but not required Must be 18 years of age Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work Pass a criminal record's check and be drug-free A Valid driver's license is required Pass a POST physical fitness test o 14"+ vertical jump o 15+ sit ups in one minute o 21+ pushups o 77 sec+ 300 Meter o 17:17 min/sec + 1.5 Mile Complete a polygraph test Pass a background investigation Must attend and successfully pass the POST Detention Academy within one year of hire date. Lateral Officers encouraged. Out of state lateral transfers must be able to pass the POST Challenge test within one year. Must be able to comply with Idaho POST standards for hiring o No felony convictions o No misdemeanor DUI offenses within 2 years of application, or 2+ DUI offenses with 5 years of application o No misdemeanor convictions of domestic violence within 5 years of application o No misdemeanor crimes of deceit or misdemeanor sex offense if conviction occurred within 5 years of application o No misdemeanor drug-related offenses if the conviction occurred within 1 year of application All candidates must provide a photo, resume, and completed job application.
