Deputy Jailer

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

A Deputy Jailer is a skilled position for a Detention Center. A Deputy Jailer is responsible for maintaining the safety & security of the jail while providing for the continuous care, custody, and control of the inmates. Henderson County Detention Center employees work with or around inmates. Employees work under general to close supervision. Employees are required to work various shifts including nights, weekends & holidays. This is not a Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. job!

Supervision and Monitoring of Inmates Provide for the Daily Needs of Inmates Maintain and Complete All Required Paperwork Daily Maintenance and Cleaning

REQUIREMENTS

( FOR

EMPLOYMENT

) : Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age

High School Graduate:

attach copy of diploma or GED to application Possess and Maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license: attach copy to application No felony convictions; misdemeanors reviewed on case by case basis Ability to speak, comprehend, read and legibly write using the English language

Annually:

Complete assigned training (24 hours minimum) Pass a pre-employment background investigation Pass a pre-employment drug screen If employed, Pass any requested drug and alcohol screens Maintain a level of physical fitness to satisfactorily perform required duties without assistance. A thorough background investigation is conducted on all applicants under consideration for hire. The background investigation may include but is not limited to the following: fingerprinting, photographing, interviews with family, references, neighbors, and past and present employers, credit history check, criminal records check, drug screen. Starting pay for a Deputy Jailer ( without experience ): $18.00 per hour
