Candidates should have sound judgement, strong ethics, self-motivation, good people skills and pride in their accomplishments.
Hours/Shifts:
12 Hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
Overtime Required:
As needed A Corrections Deputy's job duties involve maintaining the safety and security of inmates in a correctional facility. Responsibilities include supervising inmates, enforcing rules, maintaining order, and ensuring the facility is secure. Key aspects of a Corrections Officer role:
Supervision and Monitoring:
Observing and monitoring inmate behavior, movement, and activities to prevent disturbances and ensure compliance with rules.
Enforcement of Rules and Regulations:
Administering disciplinary actions for rule violations, maintaining order, and ensuring adherence to facility policies.
Security and Safety:
Conducting searches, maintaining security, and responding to emergencies to ensure a safe environment for both staff and inmates.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintaining accurate records of inmate activities, incidents, and observations. Interactions with
Inmates:
Building relationships with inmates, mediating conflicts, and providing guidance to promote positive behavior.
Training and Development:
Participating in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to correctional practices and procedures.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must be a minimum age of 18 years; have a high school diploma or equivalent; no felony convictions and no convictions of perjury, false statement or moral turpitude charge as an adult. All other arrests and convictions will be reviewed on a case by-case basis. Must have good moral character as determined by a background investigation. Incumbent must maintain a valid Louisiana Drivers License.
