Job Description

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for Entry-Level Correctional Deputy Sheriff in the Washington County Detention Center. Starting Salary $51,376 or $53,976 for lateral correctional officer with two years or more experience.
  • $10,000 Hiring Bonus
  • ($5000 at hire; $5000 after 3 years completed employment)
  • 25 Year Retirement
  • Correctional Deputy's are responsible for the custody and control of inmates detained at the Detention Center, maintaining order and discipline of inmates and ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the inmates.
Minimum qualifications include U.S. citizenship, High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, minimum age of 18 and ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, physical fitness examination, a polygraph or other truth verification examination.
Tattoo Policy:
Locations on the body where a tattoo is not permitted: a. Neck and above, with the exception of a tattoo that does not exceed one inch in length on the back of the neck and a one-inch-long tattoo behind each ear. b. Hands, wrists to fingertips with the exception of a commitment band not to exceed ½ inch in width. A second exception is for one tattoo on each hand that does not exceed one inch in length.
