Chippewa County is seeking Part-Time (79-hour) Corrections Officers to join the Chippewa County Correctional Facility. Under the supervision of the Lieutenant in charge, Corrections Officers perform a variety of duties to maintain facility security and ensure the care, custody, and well-being of inmates while maintaining a safe environment for staff and inmates. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in a career in the Criminal Justice System, with full-time positions typically filled from this role. Benefits Single health care coverage (medical, dental, vision, and prescription) Employer pays 80% of premium Advancement opportunities to full-time employment Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process inmate intake, including searches, documentation, fingerprinting, and photographing Maintain constant security through routine checks and monitoring Escort inmates to authorized visits and supervise recreation and programs Monitor inmate behavior and respond to incidents Conduct searches for contraband Transport inmates to court, correctional, and medical facilities Dispense inmate commissary Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications / Requirements Ability to work under stressful conditions and respond to emergencies Ability to manage and de-escalate difficult situations Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods Strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated sound judgment and ethical behavior Ability to understand and apply instructions Knowledge of self-defense techniques Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to corrections
