Job Description

Part-time 79-hour Corrections Officers needed. Under the supervision of the Lieutenant in charge of the Correctional Facility, Corrections Officer performs a variety of duties in maintaining the security of the facility and ensuring the care, custody, and well-being of the inmates, and maintaining a safe environment for the staff and inmates of as a part-time 79-hour Corrections Officer, you will be eligible for a single health care coverage including medical, dental, vision, and prescription that the employers pay 80% of the premium. Essential Functions:
Process the inmates' intake, including searching, recording background information, completing necessary forms, recording and securing property, fingerprinting, photographing, and recording as appropriate. Maintains constant security of the jail and inmates, includes regularly conducting cell checks and monitoring the various areas of the jail. Escort inmates to visit with attorneys, probation officers, family members, and others as authorized. Supervises recreation, visitation, and religious services. Monitor inmates' behavior and take appropriate action in the event of fights, property damage, or the abuse of an inmate by another. Conducts searches of dayrooms, cells, and inmates for contraband and assist in maintaining jail security. Transport inmates to and from court, correctional, and medical facilities. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work under stressful conditions, respond immediately to crisis situations, and balance priorities within and between office/departments. Ability to subdue, de-escalate and subdue unruly inmates. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, withstand long periods of standing and walking. Ability to communicate effectively with immediate supervisor, coworkers, inmates, and their families. Law enforcement personnel, court personnel, medical/EMS personnel, counselors, and the general public verbally and in writing; ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control, and confidence. Ability to consistently demonstrate sound ethics and judgement. Ability to comprehend, process, and apply both verbal and written skills appropriate to the job. Knowledge of self-defense techniques. Knowledge of applicable state laws and departmental order, rules, regulations, and policies.
