Job Description

Description :
The Corrections Officer is responsible for enforcing facility rules and regulations within the correctional facility, maintaining order by monitoring inmate behavior, conducting searches for contraband, responding to emergencies, and ensuring staff, security, and inmate safety through vigilant observation and intervention. The Corrections Officer position may be required to work up to 16 hours on mandatory overtime.
Responsibilities :
Supervise inmate conduct and prevent escapes or violence. Escort inmates within and outside the facility. Conduct searches for contraband and inspect security features. Maintain discipline using approved methods and equipment. Monitor facility access and screen visitors. Record inmate information and incidents. Oversee inmate schedules, duties, and recreational activities. Complete required documentation and reports. Assist with clerical tasks and facility operations. Transport inmates and perform head counts. Operate radios, secure gates, and attend training.
Skills & Qualifications :
Strong interpersonal, observational, and communication skills. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to apply use-of-force guidelines professionally. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with clean record. Must pass interview, polygraph, physical exam, and background check. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, talk or hear. Working Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
