• Why does the job exist? This position will provide care, custody, and treatment in a juvenile correctional rehabilitation facility. How does it get done? Supervise youth in all activities; Maintain control of youth by giving directives, counseling and/or utilizing the appropriate level of verbal or physical de-escalation; Write reports and prepare required records regarding incidents, youth movement and noteworthy information; and, Ensure the proper documentation of all violations of facility operating procedures, rules and regulations, and state and federal statutes. Who are the customers? Juvenile Justice Services clients Ideal Candidate Juvenile Justice Services clients Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, military duty, classroom teaching or instructing in a rehabilitative environment, working in planned recreational activities, or active participation in community action programs, or for Correctional Officer Specialist positions, relevant work experience as it relates to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Completion of the hiring process is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screening process. This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Working Conditions Potential risk from juvenile actions; this job could require running, lifting and possible physical intervention. Incumbents must be willing to accept changes in geographic assignment and be willing to work shifts, overtime, holidays, weekends and call back for emergencies. Incumbents must have a telephone and be willing to give the phone number to the supervisor. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
