Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Correctional Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of inmates, staff, and the general public within a correctional facility. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong communication skills, physical stamina, and a commitment to upholding the law.Responsibilities:
- Monitor and supervise the daily activities of inmates within the facility, including meals, recreation, and work assignments.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations, and maintain order and discipline among inmates.
- Conduct searches, including pat-downs, strip searches, and contraband searches.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents, such as fights or medical emergencies, and provide first aid as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inmate behavior, and facility activities.
- Monitor facility activities and ensure the safety and security of the facility.
- Utilize conflict management techniques to resolve disputes and maintain a peaceful environment.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management. Experience & requirements:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the New Mexico Corrections Academy within one (1) year of hire is required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Be of good moral character, have not been convicted of a felony in the courts of this or any state or in the federal courts
- Successfully pass any physical or aptitude examination the department may require.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$22.00- $27.
