This is a full-time, entry-level opportunity offering competitive pay, excellent benefits, professional training, and opportunities for advancement within New York State government. Only candidates currently authorized to work in the United States and able to commute to New York, NY will be considered. Job Overview Correction Officer Trainees complete a 12-month training program before advancing to full Correction Officer status. As part of the training program, trainees attend the Correctional Services Training Academy for a minimum 8-week formal training program . Correction Officers play a critical role in maintaining safety, security, and order within New York State correctional facilities. Key Responsibilities Correction Officers are responsible for: Maintaining custody, security, and order within correctional facilities Ensuring the safety and well-being of incarcerated individuals Supervising daily activities including work release centers, drug treatment campuses, and shock incarceration facilities Enforcing facility rules and regulations Preventing escapes and responding to emergency situations This position is ideal for candidates interested in careers in criminal justice, corrections, security, or law enforcement .
Salary & Pay Incentives Base Salary:
$66,365 - $101,269 per year Includes a $5,000 annual geographic pay differential Additional pay opportunities may include: Inconvenience Pay Location Pay Pre-Shift Briefing Pay Expanded Duty Pay Hazardous Duty Pay Benefits Package New York State offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
