Corrections Officer

Job Overview As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining safety and security within the correctional facility. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise inmates, enforce rules and regulations, and ensure the overall safety of both staff and inmates. This position requires strong conflict management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations. Responsibilities Supervise and monitor inmate activities to maintain order and security within the facility. Conduct regular inspections of inmate living areas, common areas, and facilities to ensure compliance with regulations. Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, utilizing conflict management techniques to de-escalate situations. Prepare detailed reports on inmate behavior, incidents, and daily activities for record-keeping purposes. Operate surveillance equipment such as CCTV systems to monitor inmate movements and activities. Enforce facility rules and regulations while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. Provide first aid and CPR as needed in emergency situations; certification in these areas is preferred. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies as necessary for investigations or emergencies. Experience Candidates should possess a background in law enforcement or military service, which is beneficial for understanding security protocols and emergency response. Experience with report writing is essential for documenting incidents accurately. Familiarity with conflict management techniques is crucial for handling challenging situations effectively. A First Aid certificate is advantageous but not mandatory; however, CPR certification is highly desirable. This position demands individuals who are committed to upholding the law while ensuring the safety of all individuals within the correctional environment.
