Description It is the policy of the Mifflin County Correctional Facility to provide for the supervision of all detainees under a variety of situations ensuring proper security precautions are maintained at all times with safety of the other detainees, the staff and public being of utmost importance. Job Duties (this is not all inclusive): The following duties are standard for this position, but are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Supervises detainees, ensuring all security requirements are met.
Supervises cleaning of cell blocks, corridors, and other areas of Correctional Facility.
Supervises visits including screening of visitors thorugh the walk through metal detector, ensuring that all visitors have a photo ID checking the computer to ensure the visitor is on the approved list, and logging all visits into the OMS system in the computer.
Supervision of Inmate Recreation
Supervision of Library visits and assistance when needed with the Law Library computer.
Escorting of detainees to various areas or departments within the facility.
Conducting cell searches to ensure detainees are not in possession of contraband
Conducting security and maintenance checks on cells to ensure they are secure and all systems are functioning correctly.
Searching new commitments who meet the probable cause criteria to be searched.
Searching detainees who have been out of the building prior to return to their housing area
Searching inmates leaving the building
Conducting pat searches of detainees entering or leaving group functions.
Fingerprinting or Live-Scanning new detainees or others as needed.
Distribution of medications when nursing staff are not available to do so.
Distribution of inmate commissary.
Serving of inmate meals.
Completion of all necessary reports, logs, or paperwork as assigned.
Escorting detainees from time to time to medical appointments, emergency room trips, GED testing, or other places as assigned.
