Job Description
Maintains the institutional armory in accordance with all SCDC policies and procedures. Assigns specific duties to the control room officer and ensures the control room remains clean, orderly, and ready for inspection at all times. Studies and remains thoroughly familiar with current operational/administrative directives ensuring that the control room officer does the likewise. Conducts training classes remaining thoroughly knowledgeable in the care, maintenance and safety procedures of all weapons, chemical munitions and security equipment stored in the armory. Conducts and/ or ensures responsible for the maintenance and serviceability of all padlocks and locks within the institution. Ensure keys used during emergencies are kept in a conspicuous place, color coding them and marking them for identification by touch. Prepares and submits written operational and administrative reports. Responsible for the maintenance and serviceability of all padlocks. Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire. A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experienceSCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and eighteen (18) months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work. A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for 1/2 of required experience. Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
